Gato Negro — 7" EP
Devästar is a powerviolence crusties from Chile - currently resided in Sinalao, Mexico. These anti-commercial punks began to make noise in Santiago de Chile; mishaps of life took them to reside in Mexico to continue their destructive path inside the crust, grindcore and powerviolence scene with a tough tendency to pound pessimism and struggle against political and social oppression.
Devästar's music is characterized by its aggressive and fast-paced style, typical of powerviolence and hardcore punk genres. The tracks are brief, intense, and deliver a raw sound that reflects the band's DIY ethos. Lyrically, the songs delve into themes of anti-authoritarianism, social critique, and personal turmoil, aligning with the band's underground and politically charged roots.
These guys are not only coming to devastate the stage but to turn it into absolute subversive anger. In this release, Devästar brings 10 tracks for a minute of your life! Side A contains all tracks from the Vandal Powerviolence CD-R, originally recorded and released in 2011. Side B contains additional tracks from 2012. Pressings of 300 copies on black vinyl, Gato Negro 7" is a sharing release with 11 underground labels, initiated by Cro-Magnon Distro from Sweden.
While there are no formal reviews available on platforms, Gato Negro EP has garnered attention within the underground punk community for its authentic and rawness representation of powerviolence. The EP's limited release and raw production have made it a sought-after item among collectors and fans of the genre. This 7" EP is a gem for enthusiasts of Man Is The Bastard, Siege, Capitalist Casualties and No Comment.
