Out of Order is a scorched-earth release from Seoul’s Scumraid, a band that has been carving their name into the global raw punk scene since the early 2010s. Dropped in 2014 on cassette Blood Of War Records, this release is a perfect example of Korean raw punk fury done right—an unrelenting assault of noise-drenched d-beat in the tradition of Disclose, Gloom, and Confuse.

Scumraid belongs to the “noise punk” school of d-beat, sometimes referred to as raw punk, where traditional punk structures are pushed to the extreme—suffocating walls of distortion, aggressive and abrasive texture, piercing feedback, and vocals that sound like they were recorded through a busted megaphone inside a garbage can. Other key characteristics of Out of Order are nonstop and pummeling relentless d-beat rhythms; over-the-top fuzz/distortion on guitars and bass, bordering on harsh noise; feedback-drenched intros and outros; shouted vocals, buried in the mix, adding to the chaos; and rough, lo-fi production (intentionally), keeping the sound authentic to the genre’s DIY roots.

Thematically, Scumraid often focuses on urban decay, systemic oppression, anti-authoritarian rage, anxiety, disorder, and disillusionment. The title Out of Order is both literal and symbolic—a world collapsing under its systems, people rendered powerless and out of sync with any supposed “order.” The aesthetic evokes anxiety and chaos in a dystopian cityscape—a soundtrack for societal breakdown.

Out of Order is pure distortion worship and manic energy. For fans of Gloom, Framtid, Disclose, or Nerveskade, this is a must-listen. A powerful and noisy testament to how far punk can go when you stop worrying about melody and focus entirely on impact.
