Four years after the release of the "Pain" EP, Singaporean Sludge-sonance outfit ABOLITION A.D constructed and envisioned their debut album to be an entirely different beast; with the intention of collapsing all traditional boundaries and rebuilding their very own sophisticated rage on "After Death Before Chaos".

Stripping down to its core fundamentals, "After Death Before Chaos" is forthright, unpretentious and moments of awkward brilliance so jarring and unrefined; ABOLITION A.D's cacophonous capabilities are already proving to be a milestone in their pursuit of sublime chaos.

After Death Before Chaos is the debut full-length album by Singaporean sludge-metal band Abolition A.D, released in 2014 through Pulverised Records. Following their 2010 EP Pain, this album marks a significant evolution in their sound, delivering a potent blend of sludge, crust, hardcore, and blackened metal across seven tracks spanning approximately 25 minutes.

The album opens with "Enchanted Land," featuring doom-laden riffs that gradually build into a dense wall of sound, setting a foreboding tone. Subsequent tracks like "Ouroboros" and "Primal Fear" showcase the band's dynamic range, transitioning from slow, heavy grooves to intense, fast-paced assaults. The title track, "After Death Before Chaos," introduces black metal elements, while "V.I.P" and the closing track "Medieval Minds" incorporate atmospheric doom and hardcore influences, respectively.

Critics have praised the album's raw energy and unrefined brilliance. Metal1.info awarded it an 8.5/10, highlighting its exceptional sound and songwriting that rivals international acts. Metal.de gave it a 7/10, noting the band's ability to blend various styles seamlessly, though mentioning a desire for greater dynamic depth. Ave Noctum described the album as a promising debut, emphasizing its mix of sludge and hardcore elements.

Lyrically, the album delves into themes of societal decay, manipulation, and existential despair, reflecting the band's critical perspective on modern civilization. For listeners interested in exploring a raw and intense fusion of sludge, hardcore, and blackened metal, After Death Before Chaos offers a compelling experience.
