HIJO AGRIO is a trio of psychedelic/ noise rock from Paysandú, Uruguay, and currently resides in Montevideo. Hijo Agrio is formed by Darvin Elizondo (guitar-vocals), Martín Viola (drums) and Javier Gerfauo (bass). Hijo Agrio means Acid Son in English. This debut full-length album features 10 tracks of dark and eerie atmosphere, guitar solos and swirling Hawkwind-style phaser distorted riffing, creepy bass line structure, shouting vocals and heavy psychedelia journey into the outer space for over 52:56 minutes. Perhaps comparisons with Pink Floyd or Joy Division are slightly outdated and overshrink, but this is one of the best approaches that makes you a Son of Acid overnight. Despite the darkness and heavy psych space, they have a nice artwork folded in the sleeves. Fans of At The Drive-In, Sparta, The Mars Volta, Pink Floyd, Joy Division, or Hawkwind would dig this!
